I’m gonna be adding the torrents to my recordings of ski jam here.
when ski jam is over I may come blogging but for now I just want to get these seeds out.

First night has a damed chatty audience.. hopefully skijam fans will start to focus on the concert and not the conversation. IMO the bands failed to engage the audience.

Recordings sound much better the second day. The bands were ripping and the tent was packed. A totally different feel from the previous evening.

Ski jam Day 3
The Dirty Dozen Brass Band 2008-01-13 torrent
Honkytonk Homeslice 2008-01-13 torrent

Solid performance from The Dirty Dozen with a very tight sound and some Mardi Gras flair. A great recording with some very nice audience participation. Honkytonk Homeslice.. well.. was better than last year.

Ski jam Day 4
Back Door Slam 2008-01-14 torrent
Tea Leaf Green 2008-01-14 torrent

Oh yea the day of Ski Jam that I have been waiting for, Back Door Slam and Tea Leaf Green! The tent was a bit empty at the beginning of the evening then Back Door Slam surprised everyone with some sick blues. Tea Leaf Green fallowed up with some sick ass jams.

There is a time here in Steamboat Springs when mother nature lets you know its time to get down and do winter. Well that time is here. It catches most of us here by surprise, mainly because we attempt to manifest warmness until the ski mountain opens. This year the winter call has hit harder for some.

My friends in the Naused family started off the winter with a terrible car accident. Heathre Naused hit the first patch of ice this winter and busted herself up good breaking her pelvis and giving an early birth to the first Steamboat Local in the Naused family. Big mad props to them!

Ok, so your saying to yourself… Harry doesn’t look too happy there. Well, he had a hard time while all this was going on. Seems the State troopers and he had a misunderstanding and a Dukes of Hazzard style car chase through Oak Creek Canyon. The paper wrote all about it here.

I know.. it’s been a long time since I checked in, but hey I’ve been busy. Labor Day weekend was here and sitting in front of my computer is something I have not done in a little while. I went to Denver and picked up a friend of mine for some line squatting at Redrocks. Yonder Mountain String Band sold out the place with John Fishman on drums.

Then a ballgame.

Next a hike.
